.Finnish-Owned Footbalance and Intersport International Sign Significant Strategic Partnership Agreement

Intersport International and Footbalance have signed a milestone Strategic Partnership Agreement, making Footbalance the second Finnish company ever to reach such a level of Agreement with IIC.

The agreement enables Footbalance to launch point of sales in all of the 35 countries and over 5,300 retailers in which Intersport is active.

”Our short-term goal is to enter major Intersport markets such as Germany, France and Sweden, which combined have over 2,000 retailers. The support of the IIC top management furthers our access to every Intersport store during the next four years,” CEO Antti Pihlakoski, Footbalance System Ltd says.

Footbalance is a unique in-store concept offering free computer-aided foot analysis and 100-percent custom-made insoles. Since its launch at the end of 2006, the patented concept has spread to the whole chain of Intersport stores in Finland, 120 stores in Norway and five pilot stores in Denmark.

”We became interested in Footbalance after its successful launch in Norway. According to our research, Footbalance is not only generating more sales, but it’s also positively boosting Interports’ image as a service-oriented sports retail chain. We are proud to have a strategic alliance with this Finnish innovation that complements our long-term business strategy,” says Werner Zill, Division Manager of Marketing and Retail at Intersport International Corporation.

In North America, Footbalance has an agreement with Road Runners Sport, the world’s largest running store chain, and will be launching a point of sale in every one of its stores by the end of August.

In addition to the sport segment, Footbalance also offers a range of products and services in the Medical sector and is currently expanding into the dress shoe market.
